CHARITY CONCERT

On Saturday 11 July at 8.30 pm, we will be holding a concert featuring a music group from Alhaurín in aid of the projects of the Rev. Don Antonio Gamboa and his cause for beatification.

On Monday 20 July at 8.30 pm, we will be holding a concert featuring the Paris Boys’ Choir, who are on tour and will be singing here in our collegiate church.

1st PHOTOGRAPHY DAY

Jornada Fotográfica “Por los rincones de Santa María” Sábado 14 de enero de 2023. Iglesia Santa María La Mayor de Ronda.

The Parish of Santa María de la Encarnación la Mayor and del Espíritu Santo in Ronda, in collaboration with GRUPO QUEDADA AF, is organising a Photography Day with the aim of raising awareness of and capturing in images the Church of Santa María in all its facets as a Monument and part of our artistic and cultural heritage, with the following

RULES:

  1. Participants: The event is open to any individual, whether an amateur or professional photographer, with a digital camera. Minors must be accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian, or must provide a signed consent form. Participation in the Photography Day is free of charge.
  2. Registration: To take part in the Photography Day, you must register in advance by sending an email to: grupoquedadaaf@gmail.com, stating ‘Photography Day Registration’ in the subject line. It is not necessary to provide personal details. Each participant will receive an email with an assigned number, which they must provide at the start of the event. Registration is compulsory. The registration period will begin on 10 December and end on 10 January 2023.
  3. Event: The Photography Day will begin at 9.30 am on 14 January 2023 at the church entrance, where accreditation badges will be handed out to registered participants, bearing their registration number. For those wishing to start the Photography Day in the afternoon, there will be another session for collecting accreditation badges at 4.30 pm. You must wear your accreditation badge visibly at all times during the event. Afterwards, all participants will be welcomed with a social breakfast. We will continue the Photography Day with an introductory talk by the Ronda-based photographer Juan Jesús García Vivas (Jon Nazca) and the art historian Josefa Becerra Becerra at 11.00 am in the Gothic nave opposite the Baroque altarpiece. Participants will then be able to take photographs around the church premises, both inside and outside, during the first session, which will last until 14:00. During this session, there will be an exclusive opportunity to visit the bell tower and the Morabito from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm. The second session will begin at 5.00 pm and end at 8.00 pm. During this session, there will be an exclusive opportunity to visit the sacristy and the Santa María Treasury from 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm.
  4. Competition: To take part in the competition (optional), participants may submit a maximum of 5 photographs taken during the Photography Day, covering any subject related to the church, both inside and outside. Photographs must be emailed to jornadafotografica2023@gmail.com in jpg format with a minimum resolution of 240 dpi, a minimum size of 1920 pixels on the longest side, and a file size not exceeding 2 Mb. They must be submitted without signatures or watermarks. The file name of each photograph must include the author’s first name and surname, followed by a number from 1 to 5 depending on the number of photos submitted (e.g. Juan García -1.jpg). From all the photographs received, between 20 and 30 finalists will be selected to form part of an exhibition, and their authors will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition during the Opening Ceremony. The opening of the photography exhibition will take place on Saturday 25 February in the Crypt and Catacombs of the Church of Santa María at 12:00. The closing of the exhibition will take place on Saturday 25 March at 12:00.
  5. Submission deadlines: Photographs for the competition may be submitted from 15 January to 5 February 2023.
  6. Jury’s decision: The jury will consist of a representative from the Parish of Santa María, a representative from GRUPO QUEDADA AF and a professional photographer. The official announcement of the results will be published on Saturday 11 February via social media and the press.
  7. Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions Participation in the Photography Event implies acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and of the Jury’s decision, which is final and cannot be appealed. Participants whose photographs are selected will grant the rights to use their images for the exhibition and to publish the photographs on social media, where the name of the photographer will always be credited in each case. The Organisers accept no liability for accidents or the loss of photographic equipment or other personal belongings during the course of the Photography Event. These Terms and Conditions are subject to amendment by the Organisers should this be necessary to improve the running of the event.
